- Expression of Interest are invited for Assessment of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Options Objective of the Assignment. The overall objectives of this assignment are: Το estimate/measure the present consumption of all kinds of energy utilized in AAWSA water supply system; To conduct a detailed energy audit of the AAWSA water supply system to identify, assess and recommend opportunities for improving energy efficiency and load management Assess opportunities for implementation of renewable energy options; To indicate the approximate potential for improving the energy balance; To suggest a tentative list of investments which will cover not only the rehabilitation and optimization of plants and processes but also capacity building programs at the utility level relevant to the energy efficiency and renewable energy topics; and To estimate the cost and expected energy savings of each proposed investment so that the economic payback period could be calculated; and To identify and assess options for financing such investments. Scope of Work. The Consultant shall apply its know-how and expertise in energy audits, using international best practices, to: create a robut baseline of energy use based on a survey of actual operating conditions; establish detailed data on electricity and water-use patterns, identify and assess the potential for optimization of electricity use patterns, create a list of specific energy efficiency measures, Identify opportunities for utilization of renewable energy; Identify and assess the potential for power generation in wastewater treatments plants, gravity lines, solar collectors on the roofs of the pumping station, treatment plants, reservoirs, and other buildings or any other possibilities; Estimate approximate investment costs of each proposed measure and the corresponding benefits in the form of reduced energy costs, and reduced maintenance costs in case obsolete electromechanical equipment is replaced), as well as co-benefits in terms of reduced GHG emissions; Calculate an economic payback period, where the investment costs should be divided by the expected annual savings.
