- Expression of Interest are invited for Micro Financial Institution Service. SNV is a not-for-profit international development organization. Founded in the Netherlands 50 years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in more than 26 of countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Currently, SNV Ethiopia is working in eight regional states and the two city administrations of Ethiopia, providing technical assistance and program implementation in Agriculture, WASH, and Energy Sectors. SNV is an open and learning organization that focuses on improving the lives of Ethiopian through a market-based approach inclusive of women and youth. In its new Strategic Plan period (2019-2022), SNV will more explicitly aim for systems change including strengthening institutions and kick-starting markets that help many more to escape poverty beyond our projects. Sustainable Energy for Smallholder Farmers (SEFFA) Project in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda is a multi-country project jointly implemented by GIZ, SNV & RVO that focuses on addressing the core problem of the lack of access to sustainable and affordable energy technologies and services for productive use of energy (PUE), SEFFA is an EnDev project co-financed by IKEA Foundation with the project duration of three years (Jan 2021 - Dec 2023). For the case of SNV ET, the project will be implemented in selected Woredas of Amhara, Oromia, Sidama and SNNP Regions. One of the major activities of the project is to bring on board financial institutions to create financial access to product suppliers as well as end users residing in the project areas. Furthermore, the project will identify financial instruments such as financial incentives either for the demand side (end users), the supply side (distributing companies) or credit suppliers to smallholders, or local entrepreneurs to buy technologies and/or expand businesses. Hence the project is interested to pilot Business cases with preference in areas where there is a presence of financial institutions and/or micro-credit organisations with previous experience in supporting smallholder farmers (SHF). Therefore the project is requesting for Expression of Interest from interested financial institution (MFI, Capital Good companies, etc) on how jointly promote SWP to SHF.
